Trinity Wins 1st Place for Funniest Vegetable in the Best of GrowTO 2024 Contest
A novel first-place finish for Trinity – we won the “Funniest Fruit or Vegetable” in the CNE’s !
With the new Lawson Centre for Sustainability opening in 2025 and as part of Trinity’s Integrated Sustainability Initiative, the College is ramping up growing efforts in the Food Systems Lab on campus. This summer, the team grew tomatoes, peppers and eggplants on Trinity’s Munk Building rooftops. And working with Professor B茅atrice Lego鈥檚 students in the Urban Agriculture Practices ENV381 course, they grew these funny eggplants and submitted an entry to the 鈥淔unniest Fruits or Vegetable鈥� category, winning first prize!

The eggplants were grown from seed, and tended to over the summer by members of the Food Systems Lab – Sustainability Program Coordinator and work-study students – and students from the ENV381 course, which is taught by Professor B茅atrice Lego, Campus Farm Coordinator at UTSC.
